Shanghai, June 12 (Reporter Guo Zhendan): Shanghai, one of the earliest cities in China to enter an aging society and one of the most advanced, will have registered residents aged 60 and above accounting for 36.8% of its total population by the end of 2022. To implement the "Shanghai Regulations on Elderly Care Services," Shanghai will actively promote comprehensive statistical monitoring of elderly care services in 2022 and recently released the "2022 Shanghai Comprehensive Statistical Monitoring Report on Elderly Care Services" (as of December 31, 2022).

The report shows that by the end of 2022, Shanghai had provided 2.7334 million people with home-based elderly care services covered by long-term care insurance, 376,600 people received first-level care through home-based elderly care subsidies, and 287,700 people were covered by government-purchased emergency rescue calls. In 2022, a total of 6,804 households in the city had their homes adapted for the needs of the elderly.

In terms of community elderly care services, as of the end of 2022, there were 825 day care institutions in the city, serving an average of 15,805 elderly people per month; there were 217 elderly care homes, serving an average of 3,063 elderly people per month; there were 1,608 meal assistance service venues; there were 220 community rental service points for rehabilitation assistive devices; and there were 428 comprehensive community elderly service centers.
